Manfredo Lament

Birthed from two university friends and a humble Cafe residency off of Oxford st in Oct 2021, Manfredo Lament is the fully improvised music group led by Kurt Lam on synth and keys, and Gabriel Haslam on drums. The group have cemented their place in the Australian underground music scene, spearheading a new generation of improvised and instrumental bands in Sydney.
Through a rotating lineup, each show features different musicians from across Australia’s music scene. Manfredo Lament aim to foster collaboration and community through a constantly changing lineup of musicians who have often never played together. Through a genre-fluid approach to improvisation, the sound of each show is a unique blend of musical styles, personalities and influences of each performer on stage, weaving its way through various fluctuating feels and genres. A mindset of songwriting, emotional vulnerability and adaptation to the performance environment is core to their performance and conceptual practice. Nominated for Best Live Act in the 2024 Fbi SMAC awards, the duo have been recognised as one of Sydney’s best live acts, enamouring audiences with technical ability and unfiltered physical on-stage performances.
